If you’re a fan of poppy seeds, this vegan healthy nicecream will be a great dessert for you! It only contains 3 ingredients, is easy to make and for sure delicious!
Are you also a lover of nicecream? I remember discovering it many years ago, probably ten years ago or so on a blog by a girl who often made these giant nicecream concoctions for breakfast. She used like five bananas and they always looked massive and so so delicious. I have no idea anymore who that was but if anyone knows who I’m talking about, let me know!
Anyways, it was mindblowing to me that one could use frozen bananas to create such lovely desserts! Ice cream is one of my absolute weaknesses and I could eat it every single day and still love it. Whenever we travel – be it for the day or for a longer period – I ALWAYS look up the best ice cream shop in that town or area. Sometimes there are several that are rated very highly so we just have to test them all.
Like I literally have favorite ice cream shops around the world. Two of my favorite ice cream places are in Cape Town, one is at Lake Garda, one in Venice, one outside of Munich, one in Prague, one in Vienna etc. etc. The list goes on and I’m already excited to go back to the one at Lake Garda in a few weeks!
But anyways, a few years ago we went to Vienna and a friend from Vienna told me in advance to go try the poppy seed ice cream at this place. I did and it was really delicious! So I really wanted to recreate it in a healthier version.
Poppy seeds are so delicious anyways! I am a big fan of poppy seeds and it’s quite commonly used here in Germany, Austria and the surrounding countries. You get poppy seed strudel and pastries and such. As ice cream it was quite the novelty and it works really well!
Will you make this dessert soon? Or how about my Healthy “Nutella” Nicecream?
Vegan Poppy Seed Nicecream
Description
If you're a fan of poppy seeds, this vegan healthy nicecream will be a great dessert for you! It only contains 3 ingredients, is easy to make and for sure delicious!
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Take the bananas out of the freezer (if using a whole banana) and wait for 5 minutes so that it's easier to handle. Then peel and cut into slices. (see notes)
-
Heat up a pan to medium heat without any oil. Dry roast the poppy seeds for 5 minutes while staying close by and moving them around every now and then.
-
Add sliced bananas, dry roasted poppy seeds to a blender. Blend until smooth. Add a splash of almond milk if necessary!
-
Scoop the nicecream into a bowl and top with more roasted poppy seeds. Enjoy!
Note
- Bananas: the bananas should be ripe but NOT overripe! The banana taste is too strong if overripe for this recipe. I like to freeze it whole and then wait a few minutes after removing it from the freezer. Then I make a cut down the middle lengthwise and cut it into slices. It's easy to peel then.
