Airfried Italian Chicken Tenders

These delicious chicken tenders are breaded in a mixture of panko and Italian crackers and then airfried to perfection! Serve them with a honey mustard yogurt dip!

In the last few years airfriers have become one of the most talked about kitchen appliances! Next to instant pots. I didn’t get an airfrier until end of last year because I didn’t really see the necessity! Boy was I wrong… it’s become one of the most used appliances I have now and I normally use it at least once, if not several times a day!

To be fair, I’ve got the Ninja Foodi and in addition to airfrying, it can also steam, pressure cook, slow cook, sear and roast. I LOVE that thing! I wouldn’t even have gotten one if my slow cooker hadn’t just given up on my overnight (RIP!) because we only have limited space in the kitchen (and that space is taken up already). But if you ever want to get an airfryer, I can highly recommend my one! Plus it’s big enough for a whole chicken to fit in there!

So ever since we’ve had an airfryer, I’ve been experimenting like crazy. I so love how you can “fry” without oil or with just a little bit of oil! Nothing sticks anymore and everything gets crispy! It’s seriously amazing for me, especially because I LOVE crispy things!

Crispy chicken tenders are so fabulous and such a family favorite! It’s almost like a mini schnitzel which we all love (except for the vegetarians in our family). My mum used to make turkey schnitzel for us when we were kids but it always required quite a bit of oil for it to not stick and get crispy. This way is so much better (and so much healthier). And honestly, they don’t take that much time either. Yes, it’s not as fast as using frozen pre-breaded chicken pieces but I will always rather do it myself. That way you also know what’s in your food!

For the breading I used a mixture of panko (always love a panko breading!) and crushed Italian crackers. I experimented with Italian cracker breading a while back when I found a half eaten box of those. The crackers had gone a little soft and I didn’t want to toss them so I decided to try to use them as breading. It’s delicious because they’re already seasoned and bring a great flavor to the breading! Then I also added some more Italian spices to make the tenders super flavorful.

I served the tenders with salad and a simple Honey Mustard Yogurt Sauce. I didn’t want to have extra fat in the form of mayonnaise but if you prefer that, you can of course also make a mayonnaise-based honey mustard sauce. We’ve eaten those chicken tenders with mash and gravy, in wraps or with potato wedges as well. They’re great with everything!

Will you make these airfried chicken tenders soon? Or how about my Honey & Balsamico Chicken Drumsticks?
