Seasoned with garlic, smoked chipotle and salt and then sprinkled with nutritional yeast, these airfried kale chips are a fantastic healthy alternative to regular potato chips!
The first time I heard about kale chips, I was honestly a little confused. Chips meant potato chips to me! Then vegetable chips were introduced (which I find much tastier than regular potato chips) and then came kale chips! Fascinating that you can make chips out of more than potato, I thought! But kale still sounded not particularly great as a kind of chips!
But I decided to give them a try. However, when I wanted to try kale chips, I quickly realized that they’re very expensive to buy (especially since it’s often just a very small package)! So I never tried them until… I realized you can make them yourself! At first, I tried making them in the oven and that worked quite well. But then my darling husband gave me an airfryer as a present and airfried kale chips is definitely the way to go. It works perfectly!
There are some tricks to get good kale chips. Massaging them and then massaging them again after adding oil is definitely one of them. Seasoning them properly is the other. I like adding salt, garlic and smoked chipotle powder for a ton of flavor! Oh, and I also sprinkled nutritional yeast on top after the kale chips were done for that lovely cheesy flavor!
If I want to eat something like potato chips but without all the calories (and sometimes bad additives), this is a really lovely alternative! You only need to add a small amount of oil and all of your spices to big bowl of kale and your airfryer will turn it into wonderfully crispy kale chips. So addictive. I always end up eating the whole bowl in one sitting because that crunch is so so good! Are you a fan of kale chips already?
Will you make these healthy chips soon? Or how about my Spicy Coconut Chips?
