Acai Berry Power Smoothie Bowl Recipe

This Acai Berry Power Smoothie Bowl is our regular Sunday breakfast. Every week on a Sunday we make this for breakfast! Sometimes my husband makes it, sometimes I do or sometimes we work on it together. It’s such a wonderful way to end the week for me and something that I always look forward to. I love these little family rituals so much and hope my son will still remember them when he’s all grown up. Or maybe do the same with his future kids.

We started making smoothie bowls sometime after Valentines Day this year. See, I LOVE smoothie bowls for breakfast. I didn’t reven realize how easy it is to make them at home! We used to get them on super special ocassions (like Valentines Day) from a cafe in Munich that does super tasty smoothie bowls (and other tasty things).

But let’s be honest, if you get smoothie bowls for three or four people (one of the boys is not crazy about them), that really adds up and you end up spending at least 30€ just for those. So we started looking into making them at home and in time perfected the recipe, adding some things, taking away others. And this version is the one I have been making for the last few months now. Every single Sunday.

Our 5 year old adores this smoothie bowl. He always wants more after he’s finished his generous helping and I can’t blame him. It’s DELICIOUS! It’s refreshing and sweet but not overly sweet. And it’s so deliciously creamy and thick. I really feel full of power after I’ve had my smoothie bowl! We often eat this before we go out on a little hike or longer day trip – it’s the perfect fuel for the day.

There are so many topping possibilities for this smoothie bowl! In our family, we love to put fresh berries on top (berries on top of berries basically) as well as hemp seeds and a crunchy chocolate granola. Sometimes my son asks more some more peanut butter on top as well. And I always add cacao nibs as well. Cacao nibs are my forever love. I snack on them all the time! So good!

This recipe contains so many amazing ingredients. Bananas, LOADS of berries, Acai powder, peanut butter, dates and almond milk. It’s vegan and refined sugar free and just so good for you! Adding hemp seeds on top has even more benefits. And we all love the way they taste.

I hope you will make this really soon! I’m already excited for next Sunday!!

Description

This Acai Berry Power Smoothie Bowl is packed full of goodness for breakfast. It will give you lots of power for the day and leave you super satisfied! It's vegan and refined sugar free and so good for you!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Take bananas out of the freezer (if using whole bananas) and wait for 5 minutes so that they're easier to handle. Then peel and cut into slices. (see notes)

  2. Cut the dates into small pieces.

  3. Add dates to the blender together with banana slices, frozen blueberries, frozen mixed berries, ice cubes, almond milk, açaí powder and peanut butter.

  4. Blend until all is smooth. Depending on the strength of your blender or mixer, you will need to push the smoothie bowl mixture down in between.

  5. Pour into a bowl and top with fresh berries, crunchy chocolate granola, hemp seeds and cacao nibs. Enjoy!

Note

  • Bananas: the bananas should be ripe but NOT overripe! The banana taste is too strong if overripe for this recipe. I like to freeze it whole and then wait a few minutes after removing it from the freezer. Then I make a cut down the middle lengthwise and cut it into slices. It's easy to peel then.
  • Frozen mixed berries: I like to use a mix that consists of blackberries, raspberries and cranberries but you could use any mix you like
