Do you need some cookies for a party or just for yourself? These cookies are packed full of chocolate and peanuts! They’re crispy, easy and quick to make and so delicious!
I started experimenting with these cookies a few months ago. My son and his friends were the lucky testers and while they will probably eat anything that contains chocolate (in this case Smarties), I wasn’t convinced. The first time I tried them, I used whole wheat flour and that somehow tasted too… strong? Then I tried them again but only added Smarties and they didn’t have enough bits in the individual cookies.
Now, I’m a big fan of add-ins or add-ons. Be it porridge, smoothie bowls, cookies, ice cream… add-ins are the best! So I decided to add more “bits” to the cookie dough and my son’s requests were peanuts (he LOVES peanuts) and chocolate chips. And believe me, they were a hit! On that day, a few of my son’s kindergarten friends came over for a playdate and they basically devoured them!
These cookies are so fun to make and I’m sure any kid would have a blast making them. My son definitely did when we tested them a few times. The steps are pretty easy too so at almost 5 1/2 years old, I let my son help more and more. He likes creaming together butter and sugar and also likes cracking the eggs. Just make sure to let your kid(s) crack eggs into a separate bowl as egg shell tends to end up in the dough otherwise.
I mean, don’t they look fun? There’s something so playful about having colorful bits in a baked good! I used Smarties but depending on where you live, you could also use M&Ms (the chocolate ones, not the peanut ones). Or just use more chocolate chips if you cannot find them at all. But the color really makes the cookie somehow! Also, do you prefer Smarties or M&Ms?
These cookies come together so easily that you can even make it very spontaneously if you have guests coming over or your family is craving cookies. Creaming the sugar and butter together is done in no time as is adding the eggs and peanut butter. After mixing all the dry ingredients together and adding them to the wet ones, it’s really just a quick mix. Then the fun part of adding all the yummy extras begins and the actual scooping of the cookie dough. Easy peasy! The cookies need to bake for about 12 minutes and then they’re ready to be devoured.
